“I’ve been involved with WiveyPool since 2009, first volunteering, then as pool attendant, committee member, lifeguard and finally Pool Manager since 2016. It’s a wonderful part of this community; having swum here as a child, over the years my children and grandchildren have done the same! It’s a pleasure to keep the swimmers safe and the pool running smoothly.”

“I swapped my high heels for welly boots when I moved from London to Wivey in 2018, and have since found my ‘happy place’ at WiveyPool. I was so excited, if a little scared, to be elected Chair of this cherished (almost hidden) gem in 2021.”

“I moved to Wiveliscombe in 2015, primarily because of WiveyPool! I love swimming outside and am a Level 2 Open Water Swimming Coach, RLSS Beach Lifeguard as well as trustee here at the pool. I believe in achieving tough swimming challenges as a team and thus have coached our lifeguards, young WiLDCats and adults to achieve great long distance charity swims”
Mike Davis
I have lived in Halse since 1999 and despite my daughter attending swimming lessons at WiveyPool, I forgot it existed until 2016. As an aging triathlete I can honestly say that being able to swim outside in such a well run pool run by the community has kept me competing, albeit more slowly.I am looking forward to helping with all the development plans.

“My family and I discovered the pool unexpectedly, shortly after we moved to Langley Marsh from Shropshire in 2008. The delight we felt all those years ago, returns at the start of each and every season. Through the pool I have met many fit and fabulous folk and it was for this reason, when life allowed, I became a Trustee and my wife a lifeguard as a practical and heartfelt thank you.”

“I live just over the border in Culmstock, so it’s such a joy to swim before a day at work in the GP surgery, I have swum all my life! I find it a real privilege to be a trustee of such a forward looking club, and am thrilled to have started WiLDS and Wiveliscombe long distance swimmers… you’re welcome to join.”
Gerry Simpson
“Having been involved with the pool since 2018, I’m passionate about the benefits and importance of community assets like ours. I thoroughly enjoy working with the team and helping to make the pool as great and widely available as possible. WiveyPool ticks so many boxes for me!”
Ian Payne
Ian is currently a maths teacher, school governor and trustee. He enjoys swimming, running not all simultaneously, although any two can be combined…. He has been involved in fundraising for charities in various guises for a while and enjoys the challenge of helping a club achieve its goals!

“I’ve been involved with the pool since 2019 and I feel so lucky to be a part of this amazing institution. It never ceases to amaze me how much time and effort the other trustees, staff and members put into this pool. I’m just happy to have somewhere so lovely to go swimming!”
Helen Scribbins
I lived in Kenya up until the age of 12 and we swam at an open air pool every day. So I was delighted to discover a wonderful open air pool in Wivey when I moved here in 2015. It was just weeks after I started swimming regularly that I was cajoled onto the committee and I have been there ever since; as Treasurer for three years, as Chair for another three and now as a trustee. I’m proud to have been part of the team that kept the pool open to the public during Covid – many pools didn’t open that year. It’s great to see the popularity of the pool increase, longer opening hours and more sustainable energy supplies.
