POOL USER GUIDE, RULES AND CODE OF CONDUCT

POOL USER GUIDE
General
- Opening dates and times are on the website under the ‘Visit Us’ heading.
- There are NO outdoor shoes to be worn poolside. Please remove your footwear before entering the poolside. You may leave them in the blue cubby holes/shoe area or include them with your belongings.
- Membership cards must be shown upon entry.
- Under 9 year olds must be accompanied by a responsible person of 18 years or over at all times.
- The responsible person on duty reserves the right to restrict admission of swimmers when the pool is busy. The responsible person on duty reserves the right to close the pool if:-
- a. They are the only responsible adult on the premises.
- b. The number of bathers falls below 5.
- c. The weather or water conditions are not conducive to safe swimming.
- d. As a result of an accident or injury.
- e. If the responsible person believes there is a risk that may cause harm.
- Although the Pool does provide a qualified lifesaver on duty at all times, all members enter the pool at their own risk. No responsibility for loss, damage, injury or accident will be accepted by the Management or Trustees.
- All swimmers and spectators are expected to adhere to the Pool User Guide, Rules and Code of Conduct.
Important information
- If you have diarrhea, do not swim to prevent the spread of germs that can cause illness. Stay out of the water for at least 48 hours after symptoms have stopped.
- Please do not visit WiveyPool if you have a cold, flu, COVID, or any other infectious illness. To help prevent the spread of infection, avoid contact with others for at least five days.
Changing
- We have group changing rooms for men and women. Individual changing booths, and two family/accessible huts with baby changing facilities. Please have regard for other swimmers, do not leave your clothing in the changing rooms
- Storage pigeonholes for belongings. We advise against bringing valuables. WiveyPool is not liable for any lost or stolen belongings.
Respect
- People of different standards and abilities will use the pool. Please respect their right to enjoy their swim.
- Do not make physical contact with other participants and members of staff.
Lane Swims
- WiveyPool operates a booking system for lane swimming, with sessions available for advance booking online at https://bookwhen.com/wiveypool or click BOOK. To avoid disappointment, we discourage unplanned visits and recommend checking the online schedule for availability or calling the pool at 01984 624720.
- Lane swimming: there are 3 lanes – fast, medium and slow. Capacity: max 7 per lane.
- Each session lasts 40 minutes. A lifeguard will signal when it is time to exit the water.
- We retain the right to revoke memberships and cancel bookings of those people who frequently do not cancel their booked sessions in advance and/or who do not show up.
Speed and overtaking
- We discourage overtaking, especially in fully occupied lanes. However, if it is absolutely necessary, please ensure you complete the maneuver within the backstroke flags. Do not overtake in the last 5m at each end of the lane.
- Before pushing off at each turn, check to see if anyone faster is approaching and let them go ahead of you. Keep yourself to the edge of the lane.
Direction
- Please follow the directional signs and move across to the appropriate side of the lane for each length.
Strokes
- We encourage Front Crawl only in the fast lane.
- Please respect other swimmers during your swim. If you change stroke as part of your session, think about moving into a different lane. Always ask the Lifeguard on duty before switching lanes.
Resting
- Whether stopping for a rest or catching your breath after completing your swim, please be mindful that others using the lane will want to keep on swimming without stopping, so keep yourself to the edge of the lane allowing others to turn at the wall.
Come & Swim
- Our Come & Swim sessions are in the afternoons during Main Season. Usually 1pm to 5pm during the school holidays and 2pm to 5pm term time. Booking is not required however, we advise checking our online schedule HERE as times are are subject to change.
POOL RULES
- No outdoor shoes.
- The pool is a smoke and vape free area.
- Dogs [pets] are prohibited, guide/assistance dogs will be admitted.
- The boiler, filter, chemical, pump, cleaning rooms are out of bounds.
- The storage areas and heat source pump are out of bounds.
- No photography is allowed during scheduled sessions.
- Litter to be placed in bins provided – Glass is prohibited.
- No alcohol to be brought into the pool or pool area.
- The Pool User Guide, Rules and Code of Conduct must be observed by all swimmers.
- Spectators must not obstruct the pool side or distract the Lifeguard on duty.
CODE OF CONDUCT
a. It is the responsibility of the individual swimmer to notify the Lifeguard of any health concerns.
b. The instructions of the Lifeguard must be adhered to in the interests of safety.
C. Non-swimmers, as assessed by the Lifeguard, are not allowed beyond the red line. Buoyancy aids must be appropriate and safe for use. Rubber rings without seats in, are not permitted.
d. No running on the poolside.
e. Diving is only allowed in the designated area in the deep end.
f. Entry to the pool by the steps, jumping in at the deep end, diving is designated area only! No bombing, running dives or other entry liable to cause a hazard to other pool users.
g. No throwing of equipment or violent behaviour involving equipment including splashing.
h. No pushing or throwing people into the pool.
i. No swearing or abusive language or behaviour.
j. Swimmers must wear only swimwear (rash vests etc) in the water. No outdoor clothing/T-Shirts etc allowed.
k. No Inflatables (speak to the Pool Manager about inflatables during Private Hire sessions), flippers, snorkels, face masks or rigid hand paddles allowed.
l. Swimming after the consumption of alcohol or illegal drugs is prohibited.
m. Please tie up long hair.
n. Please put on sunscreen at least 10 minutes before entering the water.
o. Please be considerate to other pool users and do not play music on the poolside
Complaints Procedure
We will make every effort to address any issues as they arise, and we trust that the responsible person on duty will be able to resolve any problems at the time. However, if you have a complaint, please contact the pool via email (wiveypool@gmail.com), and the Manager or relevant Trustee will respond accordingly to resolve the matter. Posting grievances on social media can make it more challenging to reach a resolution.

THE MANAGEMENT AND TRUSTEES RESERVE THE RIGHT TO ASK PEOPLE TO LEAVE IF THEIR BEHAVIOUR BREACHES THE POOL RULES OR CODE OF CONDUCT WITHOUT REFUND.
PERSISTENT NUISANCE COULD RESULT IN PERMANENT EXPULSION WITHOUT REFUND
